Moving to Tasmania!
We are looking for a property in Tasmania to move to, and begin building our second house!

We have put an offer in on a property! The land is around 3ha of Rural Living zoned land, mostly pasture but with power and scheme water connected at the driveway into the property, luxury!
There are a lot of steps to go still, but we are feeling hopeful that we will settle on the land and begin work this year. I've got a little enthusiastic already and while we inspected the property I took some measurements. The property has a ground source spring that flows at 10L/min, and runs down to the rivulet bordering the property over a drop of 9m. This doesn't seem to be enough to generate useful amounts of power, but the property also experiences consistent 10kmh northerly winds, which could be useful for a vertical wind turbine in the future.
The soil I was able to sample is silty loam, and some areas have a pretty high clay content (10% sand 60% silt 30% clay in the area we are thinking of building first)
There are 3 Hazelnut trees on the property, 16 Swamp Gums, approximately 20 small Crack Willows in a marshy area, and a couple of other trees.
My list of things to plant so far:
Apricot
Mulberry
Greengauge plums
Peaches
Nectarines
Asparagus!
Tea Trees in screening hedges, set in from the boundary
Blood Plums
Cypress?
One of our first jobs will be to add a skirt to the ringlock fencing on the property to help keep out wallabies. This will require us to cut back a lot of the blackberry that is grown right up to the boundary fence in some places.
Should we look into running a roadside stall?
